Partner Pontus Ewerlöf has written a chapter in the second edition of International Arbitration in Sweden: A Practitioner’s Guide. The chapter discusses the application of the New York convention by Swedish courts.
International Arbitration in Sweden is a compendious book penned by sixteen eminent practitioners that furnishes a practical guide to international arbitration in Sweden, whether ad hoc or institutional. Sweden is one of a handful of countries where the international arbitral process has reached a stage where the jurisprudence is replete with instances involving no local parties at all. In this context of credible neutrality, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) has emerged as a leading global arbitral institution. Whether the matter at issue is a business transaction dispute or a politicised conflict involving obdurate parties, the richness of its body of decided cases manifests the SCC’s authority and reliability throughout the converging world of international arbitration.
Pontus Ewerlöf specialises in arbitration and civil litigation and is the head of Snellman’s Dispute Resolution Team in Stockholm. Pontus has substantial experience in international and domestic arbitration under the SCC, ICC, ICSID, LCIA, UNCITRAL Rules and ad hoc proceedings, as well as court proceedings in Sweden. He is currently a member of the ICC Sweden Committee for Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution and a former member of the Executive Committee of the SAA. Pontus is also appointed as an arbitrator on a regular basis.
